Photography, for me, is a chemical and mechanical process, light forcing silver dust into a topographic map on the surface of the negative, proving with physical evidence the presence of what the camera sees, as I found it.

Matthew Soltesz is a photographer, artist and woodworker, born and raised in New England. He studied studio art and Middle Eastern history at the University of New Hampshire and the School of Oriental and African Studies in London. Upon finishing school, he began traveling and working extensively internationally and across the United States, all the while attempting to document the human condition as it imprints itself upon the physical and metaphysical world. Matthew currently lives and works in New York.
